Recently, Pauline from Deadlines and Diapers , The Ruff Ruff Reviews, and Berrie Sweet Picks had a contest with a winning prize of a blog make over. The rules were simple, just explain why your blog needed a little bit of plastic surgery. Be creative, Pauline encouraged, this is not a random raffle.
Up until this point, the only thing I have ever won in my entire life was a frozen duck. Yup, I was eighteen years old and I won a frozen duck in a tavern raffle. Now there is a word you don't hear every day, tavern. Nowadays they are called bars. Eek, who uses the word nowadays any more. Cripes, how old am I? Cripes? I just used the word Cripes!
Apparently I had found the right combination of words when I put together my winning explanation of who/what/where/when/how I needed a blog make-over. Read it for yourself:
Dear Pauline: I would like to win/earn/cheat my way to a nip/tuck/make-over for my blog. My writing style is fun/fresh/high-energy and my blogspot template (although I am grateful to have one of those for free) does not radiate the same ambiance as my writing. Wait, there is more! Primping for me, means pimping for you ;) I will shamelessly and publicly provide you with adoration up the wazuu and back out through the ying yang.
Still not enough? Let us go for the pity vote. I, just like my new best friend Pauline, am html illeterate (I even spelled illiterate wrong for added emphasis). If you don't help me, I could end up blogless by accidentally deleting all my html code while trying to load a seemingly harmless counter.
Here's what else I am willing to do! If you want, I will post this contest information on my blog thus decreasing my chance of winning (damn it) but driving up traffic for your competition.
How do you like me now, Pauline?
Love, Candid Carrie
Move over frozen duck because I feel like I just had a visit from Ed McMahon and his Prize Patrol! Shauna, from See My Designs By Shauna and Blah Blah Blog has been working non-stop to accommodate my every whim and I am absolutely giddy with delight. When I saw the preliminary draft, I was barely able to live within my own skin. During the second draft I literally proposed to her and asked her if we could make BlogBabies and live happily ever after. The final result is what you see here today and I am so full of joy that I could start my own Glee Club.
I always thought blog upgrades were for Other People. The Savvy Sophisticated Other People. I never imagined myself living outside of my original blogger template. I was grateful and content, but now I am living the Great American Blog Dream Come True. Me, gas passing, vomit spewing, hearing impaired, crappy cooking me.
I was incredibly impressed with Shauna and her amazing ability to take my thoughts via e-mail and have them magically come alive on my blog. I had absolutely no idea how to speak Super Computer yet she patiently allowed me to babble away while she translated it to Super Computer Code.
I am now ready to help you live The Great American Blog Dream Come True right along with me. I would like to give each of you the opportunity to win a make over. There is nothing that can compare to this high I am riding. I don't care how much weight you've got left to lose, or how much of your roots need to be touched up, or how far behind you are in your waxing, shaving, or plucking because nothing says I Look Good Right Now This Minute Of Today like living The Great American Blog Dream Come True.
First of all, I have never asked you to do very much for me. Alright, there was this one time I entered a contest and asked you all to vote for me, blah blah blah. However, this is probably the last time I am going to ask for something selfish this month.
Please leave a comment for me and tell you how much you like my new blog design. Even if you have never left a comment before, this would be the time to leave it. Don't be shy because I am having the best time of my life right now and when you leave a comment for me, it is like I have a Polaroid Picture of you sharing that moment with me so I can haul it out and look at it whenever my heart desires.
Second, if you would like to have an opportunity to live The Great American Blog Dream Come True right along with me, send an e-mail to me at carriestuckmann@gmail.com and tell me the real reason you want/deserve/need a blog make over. Be candid, be yourself, be honest. I will personally choose the winner, it will not be random.
Sorry, my money ... my game ... my rules.
Also, my thanks.
Thanks to Pauline for this incredible opportunity.
Thanks to Shauna for being so patient.
Thanks to Johnina of Barbies, Bottles, and Boys ... you were the first Big Kahuna to lend me a helping hand.
Thanks to T of Outnumbered 2 to 1, without you I would have never had the courage to go public with my writing. I know I've been a real pain in the ass (somedays, but certainly not every single day), and if you wouldn't have shoved me out of the nest I wouldn't be flying this high today.
And thanks to all of my readers. Yesterday, today and tomorrow ... Without a doubt, I Less Than Three all of you.

Love, love, love the new look!!
Once question have you had two post up today that are no longer there or am I completly loosing my mind?? The second part is probably the case but I have to ask.
Sorry I meant one question.
I had two posts up today, one was up briefly and then I changed my mind. Then I put up another one and at that point my blog was ready so I pulled that one so that I could instead be thankful for all the good in my life. No, except for the Ohio thing you are doing just fine.
I noticed the double post thing too and was totally confused. LOL! I even had some awesome and witty comment about Einstein being paid royalties every time a high school physics teacher used E=MC2 but alas, it was never meant to be. ;)
Congrats on winning the blog layout! It's great!
Oh, it's so good. It's all just SO GOOD!!
LOVE IT!! LOVE IT!!!! LOVE IT!!! If I ask anyone but my dear hubby for help with a blog layout, off with my head it will be! He is VERY protective that way, yes just like Henry the 8th! Wait until you see this weeks Friday Foto! You will just think it is the best. A hint...field day.
What a great face lift it's beautiful! It doesn't feel quite at home yet but, give me time and I'll get used to it...I'm not good with change you know.
Anyway love it and congratulations you definitely deserve it.
Love the new look! It threw me off for a minute, thought I had the wrong blog. But no, I saw your shameless groveling to get a face lift and knew it was you....
Congrats Carrie!
I love reading what you have to say each time you post.
But now you've told us all about your own grovelling. Well who could possibly compete? Anything I write is going to sound like a lame version of your own begging hype.
I'm going to try, however, because I *want* it...
I heart your new designx4.
It's the bees knees!
WOW! I am so jealous. It is gorgeous and I don't know if I deserve one too, but I want (my blog) to be just like Carrie('s)!
I was perplexed for a minute...then I realized, "Hey--she's been pimped and blinged. Next step...CRIBS, baby!"
It looks great. Love it! Congrats.
Hi Carrie,
I LOVE your new design!!! I found your blog completely by accident about a month ago and it has been love ever since! You make me laugh, cry, and make everyone feel a part of your world. You have magic fingers to make these magic words...
I love your new layout! I've always wanted to be one of those moms with the cute little stick-figure family stickers on the back of the mini-van. And you have it on your blog!!!! How awemsome is that?!?! Now my hubby is not going to be able to stop me from having those stickers! :)
I LOOOOOVE IT! I too love the stick figures (and all those kitties) and the cursive writing...it's the details, you see!
You are so funny! I loved your letter! Had to really laugh at the fear of deleting your blog to add a counter! Totally, completely me. I have no skills. Which is why I still have my original template. I'm so excited I can download pictures to it without deleting the whole thing. Yay me.
But it's totally adorable! BTW I'm so sorry you won a frozen duck. That is just so wrong.
I'm off to google stick figures for my car now. I must have these immeidately. They would be cute on my blog too, but I'm not even gonna pretend I know how to do that!
Did I say I like your new look? I need to go look at everything again. :)
Looks great! I want a makeover now! :)
Your smokin HOT now Mrs. Carrie!!!!
LOVE the new look!
Oh an if I had gotten that letter, there's no doubt I would have picked you, too Cute!
Very nice, it suits you perfectly! Mind if I put your button on my blog? I like pretty buttons ;-)
Your letter to Pauline was great!
LLOOVVEE IITT!!
Congrats!!!
Wow, it looks great. I too thought I had gotten the wrong blog. But after that letter to Pauline there was no way you were going to lose. I lost it right in the middle and had to wipe the tears out of my eyes to finish it. I found your blog by mistake also last month and I LOVE IT !
Well at least someone is feeling ... and looking by the way ... great today.
I love it. Simple yet charming.
Congrats on the win.
What's the deadline for the contest?
Looks great, girl! Much easier on the eyes and I love the title bar.. totally you.
Great minds think alike, Heather and I will be giving a blog makeover away in June... we are just making the world prettier one blog at time, aren't we?
LOVE IT.
You are my sunshine! You are my sunshine! you make me happy when skies are gray! You'll never know dear, how much I love you! Please don't take my sunshine away!
Seriously Carrie, this new look is totally you. I mean, I met you like a week ago, so I'm an expert.
Awww, I like your stick family. Very cute! No noxious clouds behind you, so I'm guessing it was a milk-free day! ;)
I can't blog for a few days & come back to the all new you! Congrats on the makeover win. It is a fab looking blog, I must say. WHoo-hoo! (I'm doing my happy dance for you, with you, c'mon!)
I just realised I forgot to put a post up about your giveaway… d'oh!
So I put something together and dated it for tomorrow.
But I still need to ask you...
Please pick me! Please pick me!
I know my blog design *looks* good, but it's pretty limiting, and is *really* starting to drive me crazy. ;)
