Weekly Update with Candid Carrie, 10.13.08

Seasons are changing. Rapidly. Earlier this past week we had temperatures in the mid-thirties. Now we spent the weekend in the mid-sixties. I am hoping that we just went from Autumn to Spring. I would ensorse that change.

I know in reality we went from Autumn to Summer and we will go back to Autumn for a couple minutes and pass directly to Winter.

And speaking of Winter, all fire hydrants have tall extension poles that shoot up from them so that when the snow piles become very tall the fire departments will be able to find the fire hydrants. Did that make sense?

It is like the fire hydrants are wearing flags for safety purposes kind of like you would see on a wheelchair or a kid's bike. From what I understand it also helps the snow plows as a guide to tell where to find the curbs.

These fire hydrant antennas have another use and it never really bothered me it happened to MY fire hydrant. No, we don't really have our own fire hydrant but there is one on our property close to the lower driveway. We keep it neatly trimmed during the Summer and make sure the city has ample access during the Winter.

Anyway, here is the other use for that antenna-thing.

Like I said, it never really bothered me before because it never happened on MY fire hydrant. Now, it is bothering me. Whenever someone finds a mitten or a glove or a shoe or a hat, that kind hearted thing-finder plops the found object on top of the antenna thing.

Does anyone have a clue as to what the eticette rules are for this? This blue glove has been waving for about two weeks. To me, I think that has given the owner more than enough time to find the their glove. And during these two weeks, I noticed that the index finger of this blue glove has worn completely through from exposure to the elements. Don't you hate it when that happens? So after I took the picture, I removed the glove and waved buh-bye as I threw it in our trash can.

Now take a quick second and scroll back up and to the right (that would be my right and the right of your screen and even when I took the picture it was on the right so it really is the my right and your right). Do you see that extremely non-descript plant/bush/shrub/greenery/folliage?

Looks bland and generic, doesn't it? Well, check out this close up! That has got to be the most kick-ass plant/bush/shrub/greener/folliage on our property!

Here's a closer look at it, there are bright pink bulb-ish items that are dropping some type of globe-ish orange item. Seriously, you've got be be pretty confident to even attempt a pink and orange wardrobe combination.

It is also available in this style that creeps along the ground in an extremely invasive style. Anybody know what it is? I know that we have Creeping Charley, Creeping Jenny, and their BF Virginia Creeper. And if there are other creepers or just plain creeps out in our woods this would not be the time to bring it up to me.

I've never intended to turn in to Bill Nye the Science Guy but does anyone know what these are called?

Here's something that I figured out, these are not dangerous! I spent two hours doing a google search for "white berries, red stems" and came up empty. Then added the word "Wisconsin" and found this link called It Is In The Berries.

David worked like a maniac and finished drywalling the living room.

He still has to tape the drywall, do the mudding, then sanding, then texturizing, and a bunch of other stuff that I sure don't want to put in the wrong order just in case someone is using my blog as a reference site for Do It Yourself projects.

David did take a break from our "living room reconstruction" project and he listed to the Packer Game while removing pine needles from the roof. I love it when he wears his "Ghost Busters 3000 Gas Powered Leaf Blower."

And on other topics, I am not ready to talk about this, but I will offer you an opportunity to look at these amendments.

When I lived in Chicago, we had those flags on our hydrants, too. And, people would stick stuff on ours, too. Well, okay, my sister and I did.

Oh, and I LOVE it when my husband wears manly appliances such as that. swooooon

I have never seen a fire hydrant antenna! Of course coming from a place were it doesn't snow this shouldn't come as a surprise. But if I did, I'm not sure I would like the look of them. Plus, they look like they could put someone's eye out.

Cool pictures by the way!

Well, that is one steep-ass roof you have there Carrie! Roofing is always one of those times when I'm happy to not have a penis.

And, I think it was definitely time to get rid of that glove. Or switch it over to the middle finger for a little while. Just to get your point across.

Hmmm. It appears I may be a little cranky today, or just stuck in the gutter. My apologies! lol

At least the glove is hanging from the INDEX finger...it's kind of like the shoes hanging from the power cords..only at eye level. That's just obnoxious.

Your bushes are lovely.

High's in the 30's? Ohh, I can't wait to go to N. Carolina for our honeymoon to feel temps like that. We're still stuck in the muggy 80's. Yuck! Neat - never saw a fire hydrant like that before. Lol

Ohhh, love the flowers on that plant.

OK, the waving fire hydrant...first I've ever seen. I could see where the blue glove would get annoying.
Second, It's it's rare form pink and orange look quite brilliant together...and last, aren't helpful handy-man husbands the best?
